Iris for Healthcare

Instant medical interpretation,
in 35 languages.

No more 30-minute waits on a phone-based interpreter line. Iris handles routine clinical conversations โ€” patient intake, appointment instructions, family meetings โ€” in real time, in any modern browser. Drug names and dosages preserved exactly. PHI auto-redacted in transcripts.

Built for the clinical encounter.

Three things every healthcare buyer asks for, baked in.

๐Ÿ’Š

Drug names & dosages preserved

"Metformin 500mg twice daily" stays "Metformin 500mg twice daily" โ€” never rounded, never substituted, never approximated. ICD-10 codes, BP/HR readings, ยฐC โ†” ยฐF preserved verbatim when stated.

๐Ÿ›ก

PHI auto-redacted in transcripts

SSN, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth โ€” automatically scrubbed before the transcript is saved. Medical-mode redaction is on by default. Configurable per session.

๐Ÿ“‹

Transcript + summary export

Every session ends with an auto-generated summary and a full transcript exportable as TXT, Markdown, or JSON. Drop into the EHR, the patient chart, or your QA workflow.

Real scenario

Patient intake without the wait.

A Spanish-speaking patient walks in for a same-day appointment. Your usual phone-based service has a 22-minute wait. Iris is on the front-desk laptop in 30 seconds โ€” patient gives their name, symptoms, allergies, current medications. Translation is instant. The transcript saves to the chart, drug names preserved exactly.

  • Drop-in usable on any browser โ€” no app install for the patient or staff
  • Up to 6 participants if a family member joins on the call
  • $0.30/min overage past the plan โ€” predictable cost vs $1.95โ€“$3.50/min phone interpretation
  • Healthcare-mode glossary: import your facility's preferred drug spellings, dose conventions, and clinical-term renderings

Healthcare FAQ.

The questions clinical IT and compliance ask first.

Is Iris HIPAA compliant?
The product has the technical controls a HIPAA-grade tool needs: PHI auto-redaction in transcripts, audit log, encrypted storage (AWS KMS at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit via Cloudflare strict mode), configurable retention, role-based access, and per-session retention overrides.

A signed BAA is not part of the self-serve plans โ€” for clinical deployments that require BAAs and custom DPAs, that's an Enterprise engagement. Email [email protected] with your facility size and use case and we'll work through the paperwork.
Will Iris invent drug names or dosages?
No. The system prompt has hard rules around facts: drug names, dosages, units (mg/ml/IU), measurements (BP, HR, temperature), ICD codes, and clinical jargon are preserved verbatim. If the audio is unclear, Iris asks the speaker to repeat โ€” never guesses. We've engineered against the failure modes specifically and continue to tune via real-session feedback.
What happens to the audio?
During a session, audio streams directly between your browser and OpenAI's Realtime API โ€” Iris's server doesn't see or store it mid-call. After the session ends, only the transcript (text) is saved to your account on our infrastructure, with PHI auto-redacted. You can also start an "ephemeral" session that saves nothing.
Can it integrate with my EHR (Epic, Cerner, Athena)?
Direct EHR integration is an Enterprise-scoped engagement. We provide transcript + summary export (TXT/Markdown/JSON) that staff can paste into the patient encounter today. For higher-volume facilities, we'll scope an HL7/FHIR webhook or a custom export pipeline.
What languages are supported well for medical use?
Spanish โ†” English, Mandarin Chinese โ†” English, Arabic โ†” English, Russian โ†” English are the most-tested clinical pairs. 35+ languages supported overall. Quality drops for less-resourced languages โ€” see our test matrix for specifics.

BAA, custom DPA, EHR integration?

The standard plans cover most clinical workflows. If you need a signed BAA, dedicated retention region, custom DPA, or HL7/FHIR integration โ€” we'll scope an Enterprise engagement with you.
